Pharmacy and compliance, taught by a board-certified veterinary pharmacist

Louisiana names no required CE topic for veterinarians, and the state’s 3-hour controlled substance prescribing CE requirement (R.S. 40:978.3) does not apply to Board of Veterinary Medicine licensees. Dr. Lauren Eichstadt Forsythe, PharmD, MBA, DICVP, FSVHP (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), teaches the library’s three pharmacy courses.

Questions

Do on-demand hours count toward my Louisiana renewal?

Yes, up to 10 of your 20 hours each CE year. Louisiana accepts RACE-approved programs, and every course here is RACE-approved for on-demand delivery.

Do live webinars count as in-person hours?

No. Louisiana classifies live, interactive webinars as online, including Vet On It’s. In-person hours require physical attendance at a seminar, lecture, conference, or workshop.

Is there a required topic?

No. Louisiana accepts any combination of clinical, alternative, regulatory, practice management, and research hours. The 3-hour controlled substance prescribing CE requirement in R.S. 40:978.3 does not apply to veterinarians.

I’m short on hours for the September 30 renewal. Can I use these?

Hours completed after June 30 are late. If the Board accepts them, they carry a $25 late CE fee and apply only to that renewal, not the current CE year. They still fall under the 10-hour online limit.

Can I use the rest of the library next CE year?

Yes. Courses stay in your library, and Louisiana again counts up to 10 online hours in each July 1 – June 30 CE year.

How long does each course take?

Each course runs its listed CE hours of lecture, plus a short quiz.
